Zurich International School

Steinacherstrasse 140, 8820 Wadenswil, Switzerland

Offering a college preparatory curriculum that combines elements from American and international curricula, ZIS resulted from the merger of the American International School of Zurich (established in 1963) and the International Primary School of Zurich (founded in 1970). The school provides a full preschool (age 3) through high school program for students from approximately 45 nations. ZIS added its fifth campus (in Baden) in 2008. Advanced Placement courses, an independent study program, and numerous electives (particularly in the arts) supplement the standard program of study. The active extracurricular and sports program is similar to that found in American secondary schools, and it includes athletic activities with students from Swiss schools, excursions to cultural events in Zurich, and vacation study trips to various parts of Europe. Zurich, the largest city in Switzerland, is an important financial center and the home of a university.
