Woodside Priory School

Begun by a group of Benedictine monks, Priory operated as a boys' boarding and day school until 1991, when girls were first admitted as day students. In fall 2003, the school expanded its boarding program to include girls. Faculty direct a rigorous academic program supplemented with athletics, the fine arts, community service and a strong program of cocurricular activities. Students receive a solid academic grounding in English, science, math, social studies, the fine and performing arts, and foreign language. A broad range of elective, honors and Advanced Placement classes supplements the curriculum. Approved students may pursue directed individual study, and specially gifted students may arrange to take college-level courses. Among the graduation requirements are foreign language, computer science, theology, the fine and performing arts, and electives. In addition, freshmen, sophomores and juniors perform 10 hours of compulsory community service each year, while seniors complete a service-oriented project.
