This college preparatory school employs project-based learning and a student-centered approach. In the middle and upper schools, 50 minutes per day are devoted to advising. Advisors—who are also teachers—work one-on-one with students on academic planning, tutorials, portfolio development, and group activities such as seminars and community involvement. Wildwood utilizes narrative assessments and pupil-led family conferences rather than letter grades to assess student performance. During the high school years, boys and girls complete four years of compulsory Spanish study. Honors course work is available in the major disciplines, and advanced courses in several areas allow particularly able students to advance beyond honors level. Wildwood does not offer Advanced Placement classes. The elementary campus (grades K-5) is located two and a half miles from the main campus on Washington Place (310-397-3134).
