Westminster School Westminster School

The educational experience at Westminster is distinguished by complementary characteristics: breadth and depth of curriculum, yet small in class sizes and individual attention. Academic emphasis is on a liberal arts college preparatory program, balanced by athletic requirements, the arts, community service and afternoon commitment to work programs and student organizations. Art studios and a performing arts center house a comprehensive creative arts program in which most students take part. College preparatory work is of a high standard, and graduates enter a variety of competitive colleges.

The school motto “grit and grace” is infused in the entire Westminster experience, from the classroom, to the playing field, to the stage and beyond campus. High academic and character standards and expectations are grounded in the school’s ever-present core values: community, character, balance and involvement.

Westminster opened a new 85,000 square foot academic center in 2009. It is a four-level facility that incorporates all disciplines other than the arts. The building is LEED Gold certified and is equipped with the latest in technology, including computer labs, language studio, planetarium and lecture hall. Its central atrium is a gathering place of twice-weekly all-school meetings. In spring 2012, a new lighted synthetic turf field was added to the school’s athletic facilities. Two new dormitories (one for boys, one for girls) were built and are scheduled to open in June 2013, to replace two existing ones.
