Wentworth Military Academy

1880 Washington Ave, Lexington, MO 64067

WMA shares its 80-acre campus with the affiliated Wentworth Military Junior College. Small classes, a strong English program supplemented by separately scheduled writing periods, a computer science program, and student participation in such extracurricular activities as marching band, chorus, drill team, flying, journalism, scouting, ranger platoon and clubs highlight the program. Boys and girls satisfy the following community service requirements: 14 hours in grade 9, 16 hours in grade 10, 18 hours in grade 11 and 20 hours in grade 12. Wentworth faculty supervise a mandatory evening study program, and tutorial services are available to those requiring extra help. In 1993, Wentworth began accepting females into its affiliated junior college division; shortly thereafter, the academy started admitting girls into grades 10-12. Due to the school's relationship with its junior college, students may earn dual-enrollment credits. Each graduate of Wentworth Military Junior College enrolled in the Military Contract Program qualifies for commission as a second lieutenant in the Army, the Army Reserve or the Army National Guard.
