180 Bloomfield Ave, Hartford, CT 06105
The school, established through the liberal bequest of David Watkinson, occupies 40 rural Hartford acres, 10 minutes from downtown and the state capitol. The campus includes a performing arts and athletic center that houses an indoor amphitheater where daily school meetings are held. The core college preparatory curriculum is enhanced by programs in writing, learning skills, global studies, creative arts, computers and community service. The creative arts and global studies programs culminate in a special diploma for preprofessional students. All students engage in two annual community service days. Closely affiliated with the neighboring University of Hartford, with which it shares many cooperative programs, Watkinson provides access to the resources of a large university, as well as the opportunity for seniors to graduate with college credits. The Academy at Watkinson (the school's postgraduate program) bridges secondary school and college.
