Vincent Smith School

322 Port Washington Blvd, Port Washington, NY 11050

Vincent Smith's highly structured program, known for its individualized approach to teaching reluctant learners and students with learning disabilities, emphasizes the development of reading, organizational and study skills. Suitable pupils may have attentional disorders, Asperger's syndrome, or expressive and receptive language issues. The school maintains a low student-teacher ratio, and tutoring, remedial reading services and writing skills classes are important aspects of the curriculum. In addition to traditional courses, boys and girls take compulsory classes in computers, art, music, health and physical education. Boys and girls accumulate 30 hours of required community service prior to graduation.
