Vermont Academy

10 Long Walk, PO Box 500, Saxtons River, VT 05154

Located on a 515-acre campus, this nationally known college preparatory institution serves primarily as a boarding school. High-achieving pupils may enroll in VA's honors courses, while students who need extra help may, for an additional fee, take part in a learning skills program that emphasizes study skills. The academy maintains small classes and a low student-teacher ratio. Senior seminars allow students to pursue independent projects while working with faculty and adults outside of VA. Laptop computers are available for lease and a wireless Internet network connects all campus buildings. A full complement of activities and athletics serves pupils at all levels of ability. All boys and girls take part in competitive athletics at least two seasons per year; for the third, students may instead participate in an activity such as photography, drama, community service, rock climbing, mountain biking or outdoor club.
