Turning Point School
8780 National Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232
Founded as Montessori of Los Angeles by a group of local educators and business professionals who adhered to the teachings of Maria Montessori, the school assumed its present name in October 1989. The Montessori-based primary division leads to an elementary division (grades K-5) that provides a skill-based curriculum and includes specialist-taught classes in art, music, Spanish, science and athletics. In all subjects, teachers deliver skill instruction in a sequential and interrelated manner. Turning Point's interdisciplinary middle school program (grades 6-8) seeks to further develop students' interests while preparing them for secondary education. Beginning in the elementary school, study tours augment classroom instruction. These tours may include field trips to museums, cultural centers, regions of geographical interest and other educational destinations. Activities frequently incorporate current events and relevant social issues.
