The upper school curriculum includes study in literature, composition and creative writing; ancient and modern history; mathematics; social sciences; geography; global economics; and the earth, life and physical sciences. Beginning in grade 5, students take Spanish, and Latin is a required course in grade 6. A one-to-one learning program provides every boy in grades 5-8 with a technological device for classroom use, and the school also has a technology lab. Complementing the core academic program are opportunities in art, music, community service, athletics, drama, journalism, student council, desktop publishing, digital photography and public speaking. Town School also offers students a broad range of hands-on projects, outdoor activities, school and grade-level assemblies and performances, after-school activities, and field trips around and beyond the Bay Area. With sound elementary work, the school sends its graduates to competitive secondary schools throughout the country. Fine arts offerings and athletics supplement an intensive academic program.
