The Woodhall School

58 Harrison Ln, PO Box 550, Bethlehem, CT 06751

Located on a 38-acre campus, the school enrolls boys who have not succeeded in traditional school environments. Woodhall accepts students of average to superior intellectual ability who have no serious emotional or behavioral problems and no chemical dependencies. Applicants may display one or more of the following characteristics: lack of motivation and low achievement; a mild learning disability; difficulty with reading, writing or math; poor concentration and attention; lack of self-confidence or poor self-esteem; long school absences due to illness; or school changes due to family mobility. The school provides small classes within a core college preparatory or general secondary-level curriculum in English, math, social studies, science and foreign languages; remedial programs in language arts, reading, writing and math; and English as a Second Language instruction. The intensive academic program is integrated with proctored study periods, small study groups and an evening study hall. Communications groups help students develop skills of self-expression, and a daily athletic program promotes physical fitness, sportsmanship and teamwork and includes interscholastic options. Each boy completes a compulsory service project every trimester. Woodhall conducts social and recreational activities and clubs on campus and in cooperation with nearby prep schools. Theater, concerts, and educational field trips to New Haven, Hartford and New York City complete the program.
