The Pegasus School The Pegasus School

The Pegasus School, where bright minds soar, is an independent co-educational school for pre-kindergarten through grade eight dedicated to academic excellence and the development of lifelong learners who are confident, caring, and courageous. Pegasus has delivered on founder Dr. Laura Hathaway’s vision of giving bright children a place to flourish, a community that is serious about academic life, diverse, collaborative and vibrant. We offer gifted educational programs, rich in opportunities, through which students develop their talents and passions. Our 21st century students are academically confident, good citizens, critical thinkers, technologically astute, creative and innovative, excellent communicators, collaborative leaders, environmentally aware, and equipped with a global perspective. Extended day care, after school activities and summer camp programs available, Pegasus is accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and is a proud member of National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).

Pegasus students love to learn, to be challenged, and to work hard; they are bright motivated and joyful; they grow in both intellect and empathy.

Pegasus teachers love to teach; they are flexible, creative, collaborative, and innovative; they foster each student’s individual gifts and passions; they educate the mind and the heart.

Pegasus parents value education; they work closely with the school in a partnership based on thoughtful communication and mutual respect.

Traits for Success

At Pegasus, we ask that teachers, parents, students, and administrators discuss “Traits for Success.” Research indicates that these character traits play the most significant role in enabling students to achieve success in school and in later life. Such factors as reading levels, affluence, grades, and I.Q. do not correlate as highly with eventual success as Organization, Attentiveness, Courage, Generosity, Persistence, Positive Attitude, Flexibility, Reflectivity, and Responsibility. Each Trait for Success is highlighted for one month of the year.
