The Montgomery Academy

3240 Vaughn Rd, Montgomery, AL 36106

The academy offers a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum with a wide choice of elective courses. During the lower school years (grades K-4), course work highlights basic concepts and seeks to develop children's problem-solving abilities through the practical application of acquired skills. Specialists supplement core courses with instruction in art, music, computer, science lab, Spanish and physical education. The transitional middle school (grades 5-8) prepares boys and girls for high school by shifting from the elementary model followed in grades 5 and 6 to the upper school model utilized in grades 7 and 8. Pupils in grades 5 and 6 follow a set schedule and change classes during the day, while those in the two next grades adhere to the same rotating schedule as the upper school. Honors and Advanced Placement courses provide opportunities for acceleration in the upper school (grades 9-12), which also maintains a strong advisory program. Students select from a variety of visual and performing arts offerings. Boys and girls in grades 5-12 supply their own iPads for classroom use. The lower school occupies separate quarters on Perry Hill Road.
