The MacDuffie School
66 School St, Granby, MA 01033
The school was founded as a college preparatory school for girls by Dr. John MacDuffie, a Harvard alumnus, and his wife, Abby, a member of Radcliffe's first graduating class. The MacDuffie family directed the school until 1941. The course of studies at MacDuffie features an integrated curriculum at all levels. Teams of teachers work together in both the middle school and the upper school to create an interrelated program that includes the arts and the core subjects of English, mathematics, history, foreign languages and science. Advanced Placement and honors courses are offered in all subject areas. The school also conducts after-school extra-help sessions on a regular basis. Students take advantage of Springfield's cultural opportunities by attending events at the civic center, theaters, museums and the many local colleges of the western Massachusetts area.
