A school for underachievers and children with learning and emotional disabilities who have been unable to achieve to potential in the regular school environment, Karafin provides a specialized, individualized structure that addresses the particular needs of each child. The goal is to remediate learning disabilities and to develop skills, confidence and motivation so that students are able to make the transition back to a mainstream setting. Karafin devises each student's program after testing by the pupil's school district and reports and evaluations from psychologists, psychiatrists and neurologists. The school accepts the following conditions: ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, Conduct Disorder, Discalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, Emotional Disturbances, Learning Differences, Mood Disorder, Multiple Disabilities, Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Pervasive Development Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Sexually Abused, School Phobia, Tourette’s Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury.
