The Hunter School

Situated on a rural, 137-acre tract, Hunter serves children with attention deficit disorder and, frequently, coexisting disabilities. Staff formulate an individual education program for the student following an initial comprehensive academic and social assessment. Previous educational experiences, previous testing and input from the pupil's family are all taken into consideration. Hunter's residential component features such wilderness experiences as hiking, camping and snowshoeing, as well as such athletic options as skiing, swimming, skating and team sports. Nearby Dartmouth College and Plymouth State College provide cultural options, while students may also participate in community-based pursuits and recreational activities. The school accepts the following conditions: ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, Emotional Disturbances, Intellectual Disabilities, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Pervasive Development Disorder, Speech/Languague Impairments, Tourette’s Syndrome.
