The Gifford School

Gifford offers special education for students with mild to severe social and emotional problems and learning disabilities. Students are assigned to small classroom groups according to their skills, age and peer-group relations. Courses in art, shop and sports are integrated into the curriculum, as is individual tutoring. High school diplomas are awarded to students completing a prescribed course of study. The clinical staff collaborates with teachers in understanding intellectual, social and emotional factors affecting the student's learning and overall functioning. In most cases, the student's sending school district covers all program and transportation costs. The school accepts the following conditions: ADHD, Anorexia Nervosa, Anxiety Disorders, Asperger's Syndrome, Bulimia, Conduct Disorder, Discalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, Emotional Disturbances, Learning Differences, Mood Disorder, Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder, Psychosis, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Prader-Willi Syndrome, School Phobia, Schizophrenia, Tourette’s Syndrome.
