The Foundation School

Foundation School designs individualized programs with a team-teaching approach for students with a wide variety of developmental needs, learning deficits, autism spectrum disorders and behavioral challenges. Boys and girls may arrive at the school with deficiencies in perceptual and motor development, speech and language acquisition and processing, learning disabilities, social skills and emotional adjustment, or some combination of the above. A staff comprising special education teachers, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, specialty teachers and trained paraprofessionals formulate and implement an individualized program for each pupil. Children are grouped by social and achievement levels and study on a nongraded basis. Students enroll from many locations in Connecticut and New York, including Westchester County and New York City. The lower and middle schools (ages 3-13) occupy a separate campus in Orange (203-795-6075). The school accepts the following conditions: Autism, Emotional Disturbances, Learning Differences.
