The English International School of Padua
Via Forcellini 168, 35128 Padova, Italy
Founded in response to meet the needs of the international community in Padova, the school provides a full elementary and secondary program that employs English as the language of instruction. Although a large percentage of students are Italian, increasing numbers of boys and girls (many of whom are native English speakers) now enroll from other countries. A dual approach results in EISP’s melding of the curricula of Italy and England. The resulting program addresses skill development in the areas of communication, comprehension, vocabulary and writing. Instruction in the elementary grades, which takes a cross-curricular approach at times, includes specialist teachers in certain areas. More structure is evident at the middle school level, and programming seeks to improve pupils' academic skills, familiarity with concepts, overall knowledge and study habits. During the first year of middle school, pupils are introduced to a third language, either German, Spanish or French. Boys and girls may pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma in grades 11 and 12.
