The Chestnut Hill School
428 Hammond St, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467
One of the rooms in CHS' original building, modeled on the design of the Old Ship Church in Hingham, was the first church in Chestnut Hill and now serves as a library. The school is situated on a five-acre campus in a residential section of Newton. CHS' developmentally appropriate program, which emphasizes the development of critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, includes two sections at each grade level. The early childhood program, which accommodates children beginning at age 3, features one-on-one interactions with teachers designed to provide support and to instill good work habits. Field trips provide enrichment at all grade levels. Beginning in grade 4, boys and girls assume leadership roles while assisting younger students. An advisor program offers one-on-one mentoring and support to sixth graders. Optional before- and after-school programs are available.
