The British School in The Netherlands

Jan van Hooflaan 3, 2252 BG Voorschoten, The Netherlands

The British School occupies five separate sites: three in The Hague, a senior school (serving ages 11-18) in Voorschoten and a small junior school (ages 5-11) in Assen. While the senior school provides a British education that follows the National Curriculum, the program also has an international dimension, and interested pupils may pursue the IB Diploma. Much of the student body, which represents roughly 80 nations, spends three or four years at the school prior to relocation, but about 30 percent of the pupils remain until graduation. Music and drama are important elements of the curriculum, and course work places special emphasis on public speaking and oratory. Boys and girls may prepare for GCSE and AS- and A-level examinations in a wide range of subjects. Students make extensive cultural use of The Hague, and the school also schedules frequent cultural, language and athletic excursions to other countries.
