The Briarwood School
12207 Whittington Dr, Houston, TX 77077
Originally founded for children with learning problems, the school now provides instruction for both children with learning differences and those with developmental delays. Briarwood conducts two programs for children of average to above-average intelligence who have learning difficulties: the lower school serves elementary pupils in grades K-6, while the middle/upper school accepts the same population in grades 7-12. The curriculum at the middle/upper school level provides a college preparatory program for students who are planning to continue their education after high school, as well as a basic educational program for those who are better suited to an alternative curriculum. The special school operates with an 8:1 pupil-teacher ratio. Designed for the child with developmental delays, the program serves individuals ages 5-21 and includes art, visual and auditory perception, gross-motor training, recreation, vocational training and language development. The school accepts the following conditions: ADHD, Learning Differences.
