The Blake School

110 Blake Rd S, Hopkins, MN 55343

One of the largest independent day schools in Greater Minneapolis/St. Paul, this coeducational school resulted from the 1972 merger of Blake School for boys, Northrop Collegiate School for girls and the Highcroft Country Day School. The school is located on three campuses, with the upper school (grades 9-12) on the Northrop campus in Minneapolis and the middle school (grades 6-8) and administrative offices on the Blake campus in Hopkins. The lower school operates at two locations: the Blake campus (grades pre-K-5) and the Highcroft campus (grades K-5) in Wayzata. Blake's rigorous college preparatory course of studies features an integrated program of academic, artistic and athletic activities, and the school also offers a wide range of electives, Advanced Placement courses and independent study options for seniors. Students gain exposure to foreign languages in each division. Computer technology is integrated into the curriculum at all grade levels: Students work with online resources, software and multimedia processes to access information and develop presentations. The arts program is particularly strong, with such courses as ceramics, printmaking, photography, drama, chorus and instrumental music.
