The Ahliyyah School for Girls

PO Box 2035, Amman, 11181 Jordan

ASG's program enriches the national curriculum with suitable American and British syllabi in English language and literature, math, the sciences and social studies. The school employs both English and Arabic as languages of instruction. Non-Jordanian pupils preparing for the International Baccalaureate Diploma receive instruction in English and take special Arabic classes. In grades 1-3, Arabic is the primary language of instruction, although 20 percent of course work conducted in English. Arabic continues to be the medium of instruction in grades 4-6, with science being taught in both languages. Departmentalization begins in grade 4. English-language options increase in grades 7-10: Science classes during these years utilize English, while math and social studies courses in grades 8-10 do the same. In grades 11 and 12, girls enroll in either the IB Diploma Program or the Secondary School National Program. A student exchange program allows selected students to spend the first semester of junior year at Westover School in Middlebury, Connecticut.
