Tampa Preparatory School Tampa Preparatory School

Tampa Preparatory School is a coeducational college preparatory school for students in grades 6 - 12. Our educational philosophy instills values of fairness, decency, honor, diligence and academic curiosity. As students discover their unique identities, they are enriched by a variety of fine and performing arts courses. Participation on state-ranked athletic teams, extracurricular activities and community service endeavors provide additional opportunities for growth and expression. Challenging academics include opportunities for focused concentration in STEM and Global Studies.

Our beautiful campus is located across the Hillsborough River from downtown Tampa and is equipped with cutting-edge technology, a video production studio, high-caliber science and computer labs, innovative classrooms and superior arts facilities. Our state-of-the art athletic complex includes two full-size indoor basketball courts, outdoor basketball courts, lighted soccer and baseball fields, a wrestling room, a training facility and a swimming and diving center.

Our focus extends beyond typical college preparation to provide a preparation for life with a higher purpose than self. Our belief in a well-rounded education is reflected in our mission to provide a place to think, create, be yourself, aspire to excellence and go beyond. Our faculty members are role models who include these tenets in their teaching and in their lives.

The faculty is composed of high-caliber teachers who assist students in achieving the greatest personal growth. In addition to fine scholarship and enthusiasm for their fields, they have an abiding interest in young people and their influence extends far beyond the classroom. The opportunity for students and teachers to know and respect one another as individuals is one of the greatest strengths of independent schools in general, and of Tampa Preparatory School in particular.

The School stresses the development of self-confidence, a sense of worth and the importance of having fun in the pursuit of one’s goals. While our students score in the highest percentiles of standardized tests and earn scholarships to prestigious universities, the real measure of success for Tampa Prep students is how well equipped they are for college and the career of their choosing. Tampa Prep graduates enter the world with a solid foundation and a strong moral compass.

In an age that demands instant answers, education cannot demonstrate immediate results; but it can stress the values and standards that provide structure for living in today’s global society. The School’s goal is to develop the academic, intellectual, moral, emotional and physical potential of each student, and to prepare each student as an individual to live a creative, productive, humane and compassionate life.
