Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart

1200 Stuart Rd, Princeton, NJ 08540

Founded as an independent girls' school, Stuart is part of the Network of Sacred Heart schools. The school seeks to integrate a strong academic foundation with an awareness and an appreciation of the religious dimensions of life. Students represent many different faiths. In the lower school (grades PS-5), emphasis is placed on the acquisition of basic skills. Foreign language study begins with an introduction to French and Spanish in preschool. Children choose to study either language in kindergarten. The upper school (grades 9-12) includes an increased choice of electives and Advanced Placement courses, and qualified seniors may enroll in certain courses at Princeton University. An international exchange program links students with girls studying in French- and Spanish-speaking Sacred Heart schools in Europe or South America, and individual exchanges are also available with Sacred Heart schools in the US and abroad. Senior peer leaders receive training from faculty and lead discussions with small groups of freshmen. Upper school students perform 50 hours of community service each year. Physical education is offered at every level, and middle and upper school teams compete interscholastically.
