Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart

9101 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20814

Founded by the Society of the Sacred Heart and a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools, Stone Ridge occupies a 35-acre campus and draws its student body from a 50-mile radius. The school conducts a college preparatory program for girls in grades 1-12, as well as coeducational prekindergarten and kindergarten programs. The upper school (grades 9-12) offers accelerated and advanced courses, in addition to independent study and expanded course options through the Bethesda Independent Schools' Consortium. Through Stone Ridge's exchange program, students may spend one semester at a Sacred Heart school in the United States or abroad. Community service is integrated into the upper school curriculum. Beginning with a yearlong orientation in grade 9, girls devote six hours every other Wednesday (from October through April) to service work. All seniors take part in a five-day, 40-hour internship in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area that enables each student to experience a job setting and meet professionals in a particular career field.
