St. Thomas High School

4500 Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77007

St. Thomas, Houston's oldest boys' college preparatory school, was founded by three priests of the Congregation of St. Basil on the site of a former monastery. It moved to its present, 17-acre location in 1940. Students enroll from Houston and the surrounding community. Curriculum and activities emphasize Catholic values and teachings. The normal course load is seven subjects, with requirements in English, math, science, history and theology. Students may qualify for honors courses that include advanced studies in most subject areas. Cultural, social and service activities complement academics. Boys assist the campus ministry by serving as lectors, altar servers and Eucharistic ministers. Freshmen perform 15 hours of community service, sophomores attend a required service retreat, and juniors and seniors complete 40 hours of service each year.
