1000 St Stephen's Rd, Alexandria, VA 22304

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School, a church school in the Episcopal diocese of Virginia, was created by the 1991 merger of St. Stephen's School (founded in 1944) and St. Agnes School (founded in 1924). The strong academic program includes single-gender science and math classes in grades 6-8, an interdisciplinary history program in grades 9-12, and many honors and Advanced Placement courses. In addition, SSSAS conducts comprehensive visual and performing arts programs and a varied athletic program. Seminars and field trips to historical, cultural and political points of interest in Washington, DC, augment the academic program. Cocurricular programs offer opportunities to study and travel abroad. The lower school (junior kindergarten through grade 5) is located on Fontaine Street, the middle school (grades 6-8) operates on West Braddock Road and the upper school (grades 9-12) holds classes on St. Stephen's Road. Students participate in a service learning program at all grade levels (including junior kindergarten) through such avenues as food drives, the Special Olympics and Habitat for Humanity. In addition, upper schoolers fulfill a 40-hour service requirement. An extended-day program serves children through grade 8, and transportation to and from campus is available.
