St. Margaret's School
444 Water Ln, PO Box 158, Tappahannock, VA 22560
One of the church schools in the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, St. Margaret's takes advantage of its small-town setting in the historic Virginia Tidewater. Girls learn in a Christian, homelike atmosphere in which they are held to high academic standards. The curriculum, emphasizing individual attention and college preparation, encompasses a variety of courses, ranging from world civilizations and physics to piano and studio art. At all grade levels, girls perform 12 hours of compulsory community service annually. All seniors complete a two-week career exploration internship in the spring. The River Program spans the curriculum, co-curriculum and residential life and exposes girls to hands-on science, water sports and volunteer service. St. Margaret's participates in an exchange program with schools in Australia and New Zealand that are also members of the Queen Margaret of Scotland Girls' Schools Association.
