St. Margaret's Episcopal School
31641 La Novia Ave, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675
St. Margaret's Episcopal School, named for Scotland's patron of education, was founded through the efforts of Canon Ernest D. Sillers, an Episcopal priest who persuaded the bishop of the diocese to acquire land on which a church and a school could be built. Chapel has been a part of St. Margaret's since its founding, and worship services, religion classes and a service program provide the structure of the school community. In the upper school, Advanced Placement courses are offered, and all students take an elective each semester. Graduation requirements include courses in foreign language, the fine arts, religion or philosophy, history and computer science, as well as a year of advanced history, mathematics, science or language. Freshmen and sophomores perform 15 hours of required community service per year, while juniors and seniors provide 40 hours of service to a single nonprofit organization over two years.
