The 1950 merger of St. John's College School and Ravenscourt School resulted in this college preparatory school, which places an emphasis on the liberal arts. SJR's extensive debate program includes required courses in grades 7 and 8, optional courses in high school and extracurricular competitions for various skill levels. International applicants should have at least an intermediate level of English knowledge; ESL programming includes small group lessons, individual instruction and peer tutoring. The senior school (grades 9-12) features Advanced Placement courses, community service activities, and an emphasis on university and career planning.
