St. Francis School

233 W Broadway, Louisville, KY 40202

The school was formed by the summer 2012 merger of St. Francis High School (grades 9-12; established in 1976) and St. Francis School (grades PS-8; founded in 1965), with the resulting institution assuming the latter's name. St. Francis retained all three campuses: the preschool in Harrods Creek, the elementary division in Goshen and the high school division in Louisville. The developmentally designed elementary curriculum provides individualized programs in basic skills, life skills and foreign language instruction in grades K-8, and an outdoor environmental science lab. In addition to the standard subjects, St. Francis emphasizes drama, music, the fine arts and physical education. Enrichment is provided through many field trips, as well as visits by artists, musicians and craftsmen. During the high school years, St. Francis offers a progressive college preparatory program that utilizes the diverse resources of downtown Louisville. Advanced Placement and college-level courses, drama, photography and studio art courses are among the academic offerings. All students complete three community service group projects and also participate in six schoolwide service days. Seniors complete a compulsory interdisciplinary project.
