St. Anne's-Belfield School
2132 Ivy Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22903
St. Anne's-Belfield was formed in 1970 by the merger of Belfield Elementary School (founded in 1955) and Saint Anne's School, a girls' residential secondary school (established in 1910). The school occupies two campuses totaling approximately 50 acres. The academic program, which includes a variety of Advanced Placement courses, provides a solid background in the major disciplines, and all students are required to supplement their program of studies with courses in art, music, drama and computer study. The independent study program encourages students to pursue original investigation and present their findings to the school community. A senior thesis option allows grade 12 students to design and pursue an academic question, passion or interest over the course of the entire year. Boys and girls in grades 9-12 perform 15 hours of compulsory community service annually.
