St. Andrew's Scots School
R S Pena 654, 1636 Olivos, Argentina
This bilingual school offers a four-tiered system: three years of kindergarten (commencing at age 3), followed by six primary years and six secondary grades (consisting of three middle school and three senior school years). English is the medium of instruction during the kindergarten years, while children in grades 1-6 study in English during the morning hours and in Spanish in the afternoon. Pupils in grades 7-12 take part in a fully bilingual program in which English-medium course work leads to the IGCSE, and classes utilizing Spanish as the language of instruction follow the Argentine National Curriculum. The vast majority of students prepare for the International Baccalaureate Diploma in grades 11 and 12. St. Andrew’s maintains two campuses: Olivos, a northern suburb of Buenos Aires, serves as the location of the administrative offices, one kindergarten, one primary school and the secondary school, while Punta Chica, a 20 minutes' drive further north, is the site of the other kindergarten and primary school.
