St. Andrew's School
350 Noxontown Rd, Middletown, DE 19709
Founded and endowed by Alexis Felix Du Pont, this Episcopal school is situated on 2200 acres of wetlands, farmland and forestland. Rev. Walden Pell, a St. Mark's graduate, headmaster from the founding, developed sound scholarship and a loyal following during his administration. St. Andrew's offers its students a rigorous and varied college preparatory program that sends graduates to leading colleges. The traditional curriculum includes theater, studio art, music and advanced electives in the sciences, history, computer science and mathematics. Although courses are not labeled as Advanced Placement, advanced study options in most subjects prepare students for AP exams. Advanced topics tutorials are individualized and often student-directed courses allowing further advanced study in particular disciplines. Reading- and writing-intensive spring tutorials, designed by faculty for three or fewer sixth form students, more closely approximate the collegiate academic experience.
