Skagerak International School

Framnesveien 7, 3222 Sandefjord, Norway

Skagerak provides English-medium instruction that centers around International Baccalaureate programming. The primary program (grades PS-6) begins at age 4 and utilizes the Primary Years Program, while the middle school (grades 7-9) follows the Middle Years Program. At the high school level (grades 10-12), boys and girls participate in a pre-IB year prior to completing the two-year IB Diploma Program. The pre-IB year enables pupils to develop their abilities in subjects to which they have had little prior exposure, and the year also helps students to meet Norwegian course requirements. Sandefjord, an important whaling town in the early 1900s, continues to track worldwide whale populations and develop conservation plans for endangered whale species. The town has become a shipping and industrial center.
