Schools of the Sacred Heart

2222 Broadway, San Francisco, CA 94115

Founded by the Religious of the Sacred Heart, SSH comprises two girls' schools, Convent of the Sacred Heart High School (grades 9-12) and Convent of the Sacred Heart Elementary School (grades K-8), and two boys’ schools, Stuart Hall for Boys (grades K-8) and Stuart Hall High School (grades 9-12). The boys' high school occupies a separate campus on Octavia Street (415-345-5811). Among the oldest and largest independent schools in the West, Schools of the Sacred Heart employ a coordinate approach that enables boys and girls to learn in single-gender classes within a coeducational community. The rigorous academic program features a strong computer curriculum, art, ceramics, photography, chorus, music, drama and sports. Honors and Advanced Placement classes are available in most disciplines. Pupils in grades 7-12 serve the community in outreach programs. Boys accumulate 75 hours of required community service in grades 9-11, while girls compile 100 hours of compulsory service in grades 9-12. Boys and girls are encouraged to pursue leadership opportunities through student council, the classroom and student activities. As a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools in the United States, SSH participates in a student exchange program that offers eligible high school students the opportunity to study at another Sacred Heart school.
