Sandford International School

PO Box 30056MA, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

SIS was founded as the Sandford English Community School and renamed in 2001 after adopting the International Baccalaureate as its pre-university course. The primary school curriculum blends elements of the IB Primary Years Program and the British National Curriculum. Teaching assistants provide ESL support, and from grade 2 French is taught to international students and Amharic to international students. The secondary program (grades 7-12) emphasizes projects and fieldwork as students prepare for the IGCSE exams in either language, plus English literature, math and four elective courses. The IB Diploma features 14 subjects, including Spanish and Italian languages.
