Saint Louis Priory School

500 S Mason Rd, St Louis, MO 63141

This college preparatory day school for boys is operated by Saint Louis Abbey, a Benedictine monastery founded by Ampleforth Abbey in England. Saint Louis Abbey and its school became independent of the founding Abbey in 1973. The 150-acre, wooded campus is situated on rolling hills in west St. Louis County. The course of studies imparts a solid, traditional liberal arts education through the disciplines of religion, English, classical and modern foreign languages, mathematics, the natural sciences, history and computer science. Priory offers AP courses in most subjects, and independent study is an option for exceptional students in their junior and senior years. A special feature of the senior year is a thesis or exhibition; each student must submit a research thesis, a work of creative writing, or a project in the visual or performing arts. Service to the community is also required for graduation; juniors and seniors render service to the sick, the elderly, the young and many others in need. Once each week, the school community comes together to pray and to celebrate the liturgy. Participation in athletics is required, and both interscholastic competition and noncompetitive physical activities are offered. Students in the high school are expected to take part in an interscholastic sport at least two trimesters each year.
