Saint John's Preparatory School

2280 Watertower Rd, PO Box 4000, Collegeville, MN 56321

Saint John's Preparatory School shares its 2700-acre campus with Saint John's University, a liberal arts college for men. The school supplements its traditional college preparatory course of study with offerings in the fine arts, social studies and theology. Each department provides the opportunity for qualified students to participate in an independent study program. Advanced courses are available, including the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. In addition, pupils may take college courses at Saint John's University. A number of university facilities are open to Prep students, and the school's computer system is linked directly to the university's. Prep students also have access to the programs and facilities of the College of Saint Benedict, a nearby liberal arts college for women that operates in conjunction with the university. The residential program for girls, started in 1992, is conducted in cooperation with the college, located four miles away in St. Joseph. Girls live in a building on the college campus that is staffed by Prep professionals; the school provides free transportation between the two campuses. The Melk Program, first offered in 1966, is a nine-month course of study and travel at the Benedictine Abbey School of Melk, Austria, that is open to members of the junior and senior classes. A weeklong interim program held each winter comprises nontraditional classes and experiences, among them travel and service options.
