Founded to meet the needs of English-speaking international students in Metropolitan Beirut, this Catholic school provides course work leading to the International Baccalaureate Diploma, the American high school diploma and the Lebanese Baccalaureate. Boys and girls in the American section may prepare for the College Board and Advanced Placement examinations, and nonnative English speakers ready themselves for the TOEFL. The broad-based curriculum facilitates entrance into colleges throughout the world. Pupils with dyslexia, attentional disorders and other learning differences may receive assistance through SHS’ special-education unit. A 30-minute drive from Beirut’s airport, the mountainous campus setting in the village of Ain Saadeh overlooks the Mediterranean Sea.
