Founded in Madrid to provide a British-style secondary education for area students of all nationalities, RC added a primary division in 1987 and moved to suburban La Moraleja in 1990. In the junior school, English, math and science form the core of the curriculum, with boys and girls also taking history and geography, design technology, art and music. Pupils take Spanish, which is taught as a foreign language, three days per week. During the senior school years, Runnymede places considerable emphasis on the IGCSE, GCSE and A-level examinations. Boys and girls typically take three courses at A level.
