Rumsey Hall School
201 Romford Rd, Washington Depot, CT 06794
Lillias Rumsey Sanford founded Rumsey Hall in Seneca Falls, NY, with the idea that children need a structured environment with an emphasis on effort. The school moved to larger quarters in Cornwall in 1907 and to the present campus, situated in the foothills of the Berkshires, in 1949. Effort continues to be a focus and earns students various privileges. The traditional structure of the school provides a family atmosphere, and full sports and extracurricular programs complement the academic curriculum. All students take art and music classes and participate in afternoon athletics. An outdoor adventure program is available for those who wish a less competitive program. In addition to an array of sports and traditional activities, students may also become involved in fishing, bicycling, swimming, hiking and backpacking, and overnight camping trips. Rumsey Hall schedules off-campus trips and various pursuits on weekends for boarders.
