Ransom Everglades School

3575 Main Hwy, Miami, FL 33133

Ransom Everglades was founded in 1974 upon the merger of two established secondary schools in the Coconut Grove area of Miami: the Ransom School for Boys, opened under the direction of Paul C. Ransom in 1903 and originally known as the Adirondack Florida School, and the Everglades School for Girls, established in 1955. Now completely coeducational in all operations, the school occupies two campuses, with the middle school located on South Bayshore Drive. Ransom Everglades provides college preparation in a small-class setting. Academic offerings in the upper school include numerous Advanced Placement courses. A variety of computer-based programs, such as a writing workshop that utilizes the computer in the development of student writing skills, enriches the upper school curriculum. In addition to the basic academic program, a number of experiences in the visual and performing arts are also offered.
