Rainbow International School
PO Box 7632, Kampala, Uganda
Founded as an English-medium elementary school, Rainbow expanded its UK-style curriculum into the secondary years in 1993. At the primary level, differentiated teaching in math, English and science allows instructors to address varying learning needs. Pupils remain with their homeroom teacher for most classes, but specialists teach foreign languages, music, swimming and physical education. The secondary program follows the British National Curriculum: Students prepare for the IGCSE examinations in grades 9 and 10, then take A-level courses in grades 11 and 12. Interest club participation begins in grade 2. Interscholastic athletic teams are also available.
