Located on a 32-acre campus in West Little Rock, Pulaski Academy was founded by a group of local citizens. The early childhood division (ages 3 and 4) provides a program that guides children through prescriptive activities in the areas of reading and math readiness, in addition to language, social and motor development. The kindergarten program stresses reading and math skills, with increasing emphasis placed on social skills, computer usage, scientific processes and thought development. In the lower school (grades 1-4), pupils take part in an interactive, developmentally appropriate curriculum. Basic skills are enriched by programs in physical education, art, music, drama and computer instruction. The middle school (grades 5-8) provides an academic program with a strong core curriculum that emphasizes multidisciplinary units, study skills, and creative and critical thinking. The college preparatory upper school encourages the development of academic and critical-thinking skills. Advanced Placement courses are an integral part of the program. Special activities and programs include field trips, guest lecturers and performers, and dramatic productions. All upper schoolers perform community service.
