Pine Cobble School
163 Gale Rd, Williamstown, MA 01267
Founded by Dr. and Mrs. Edgar W. Flinton, with the cooperation of a group of parents, Pine Cobble serves northern Berkshire County and adjacent communities in eastern New York State and southern Vermont. Within a traditional country day school environment, the program develops basic academic skills and offers a broad cocurricular program that features art, music, drama and athletics. Spanish begins in kindergarten, while Latin is available from grade 7. Cross-grade grouping in the upper school (grades 6-9) allows the program to address individual needs and provide opportunities for accelerated study. In 1993, the school purchased a second campus in the hills just south of Williamstown. The main building, formerly the estate of George Alfred Cluett, and four classroom buildings occupy 20 acres. Field trips and outdoor experiences are numerous, and the entire school participates in an annual mountain climb and hike. A winter athletic program offers instruction in both cross-country and downhill skiing to children in grade 1 and above.
