Founded by Caroline A. Pierce as a small neighborhood school, Park now provides a diverse student body from the Greater Boston area with a strong coeducational program. In 1970, the school moved to a 25-acre site across from Larz Anderson Park, where the long tradition of small classes, rigorous academics and close contact with parents continues to be fostered. The curriculum is designed to build basic skills and instill self-confidence. Music, art, drama and athletics are regular parts of the program. Two-week work-study opportunities and language-study trips to France, Spain and Italy are integral to the grade 9 curriculum. An after-school program offers both structured activities and free play time for the younger children in a relaxed atmosphere. During the summer, Park also conducts several day camp and special activity programs for children ages 4-15, the largest of which is a creative arts program.
