One of the nation's first progressive institutions, Park was the laboratory school at which Eugene Randolph Smith developed his nationally known methods. Since 1959, the school has occupied a 100-acre, wooded campus. Within a broad liberal arts curriculum, the program emphasizes inquiry, analysis, problem solving, independent thinking and fundamental skills. In the early years, Park's integrated curriculum is characterized by an experiential approach that provides room for individualization. At upper grade levels, a broad range of electives complements required course work. Advanced classes are available in all disciplines, and the school's senior term features a required six-week, off-campus project. Park conducts student exchanges with schools in Central America and France.
